Abdul Daryabadi : The clatterer!
Dr. Mohsin : Al-Qâri’ah (the striking Hour i.e. the Day of Resurrection),
Mufti Taqi Usmani : The Striking Event!
Pickthal : The Calamity!
Yusuf Ali : The (Day) of Noise and Clamour:
Verse:002
Abdul Daryabadi : What is the clatterer?
Dr. Mohsin : What is the striking (Hour)?
Mufti Taqi Usmani : What is the Striking Event?
Pickthal : What is the Calamity?
Yusuf Ali : What is the (Day) of Noise and Clamour?
Verse:003
Abdul Daryabadi : And what will make thee understand what the clatterer is?
Dr. Mohsin : And what will make you know what the striking (Hour) is?
Mufti Taqi Usmani : And what may let you know what the Striking Event is?
Pickthal : Ah, what will convey unto thee what the Calamity is!
Yusuf Ali : And what will explain to thee what the (Day) of Noise and Clamour is?
Verse:004
Abdul Daryabadi : A Day when mankind shall become as moths scattered.
Dr. Mohsin : It is a Day whereon mankind will be like moths scattered about,
Mufti Taqi Usmani : It will happen) on a day when people will be like scattered moths,
Pickthal : A day wherein mankind will be as thickly-scattered moths
Yusuf Ali : (It is) a Day whereon Men will be like moths Scattered about,
Verse:005
Abdul Daryabadi : And mountains shall become as wool carded.
Dr. Mohsin : And the mountains will be like carded wool,
Mufti Taqi Usmani : And the mountains will be like carded wool.
Pickthal : And the mountains will become as carded wool.
Yusuf Ali : And the mountains will be like carded wool.
Verse:006
Abdul Daryabadi : Then as for him whose balances are heavy,
Dr. Mohsin : Then as for him whose balance (of good deeds) will be heavy,[]
Mufti Taqi Usmani : Then, as for him whose scales (of good deeds) are heavy,
Pickthal : Then, as for him whose scales are heavy (with good works),
Yusuf Ali : Then, he whose balance (of good deeds) will be (found) heavy
Verse:007
Abdul Daryabadi : he shall be in life well-pleasing.
Dr. Mohsin : He will live a pleasant life (in Paradise).
Mufti Taqi Usmani : He will be in a happy life.
Pickthal : He will live a pleasant life.
Yusuf Ali : Will be in a life of good pleasure and satisfaction.
Verse:008
Abdul Daryabadi : And as for him whose balances are light,
Dr. Mohsin : But as for him whose balance (of good deeds) will be light,
Mufti Taqi Usmani : But he whose scales are light,
Pickthal : But as for him whose scales are light,
Yusuf Ali : But he whose balance (of good deeds) will be (found) light―
Verse:009
Abdul Daryabadi : his abode shall be the Abyss.
Dr. Mohsin : He will have his home in Hawiyah (pit, i.e. Hell)
Mufti Taqi Usmani : His abode will be Abyss.
Pickthal : The bereft and Hungry One will be his mother,
Yusuf Ali : Will have his home in a (bottomless) pit.
Verse:010
Abdul Daryabadi : And what shall make thee understand what she is?
Dr. Mohsin : And what will make you know what it is?
Mufti Taqi Usmani : And what may let you know what that (Abyss) is?
Pickthal : Ah, what will convey unto thee what she is! –
Yusuf Ali : And what will explain to thee what this is?
Verse:011
Abdul Daryabadi : A Fire exceedingly hot.
Dr. Mohsin : (It is) a fiercey blazing Fire!
Mufti Taqi Usmani : A blazing Fire!
Pickthal : Raging Fire.
Yusuf Ali : (It is) a Fire Blazing fiercely!
