King Abdul Aziz al-Saud
King Abdul Aziz Al-Saud was born in Riyadh in 1980 . In 1891,when he was only eleven years old,his family was forced to leave Riyadh. They moved to kuwai.
They were many important events in Abdul Aziz’s life. In 1902,he recaptured Riyadh. Then in 1917,he captured Hofuf from the Turks. He became Sultan of Najd in 1921 and King of the Hijaz in 1926. He unified the whole country as Saudi Arabia in 1932 and in 1933 he gave the order to drill for oil.
King Abdul Aziz is remembered for his faith in Islam,his strength and his generosity. He died in 1953 at age of 73..
King Faisal bin Abdul Aziz
King Faisal bin Abdul Aziz was born in Riyadh in 1905 . In 1919,when he was only fourteen years old,he was sent to the Paris Pease Conference at the end of World Warl. On the same trip,he visited the U.K. They were many important events in King Faisal’s life. In 1925,he became viceroy of the Hejaz and Foreign Minister. During the 1930s,he made many trips abroad to present the Arabs views on Palestine. Then in 1945,he took the Kingdom into the United Nations. He became Prime Minister in 1962 and King in 1964.

Robert Scott was British. His aims were to spend a winter in the Antarctic,to do scientific research and to go to the south pole. He had 65 men.33 dogs.19 horses and 3 motor sledges. Before the first Saudi expansion. The total area of the Holy Mosque at Madinah was 10,300 m2 and there was room for 17,000 worshippers. There were five 60-meter-high minarets but there were no escalators, no fixed staircases and no air-conditioning.
After the first Saudi expansion ,the total area had grown to 16,500m2 and the Mosque could accommodate 28,000 worshippers. The height of the minarets had increased to 72 meters but there were only four of them. There were still no escalators ,no fixed staircases and no air-conditioning.
Now, After the second Saudi expansion, the total area has grown to 400,500 m2 and there is room for 650,000 worshippers. The number of minarets has increased to ten and they are now 105 meters high. There are now four escalatorts and eighteen fixed staircases. In addition a 25,000- ton central air-condition station has been built…
