is it possible for the camera itself to cause shitty images? i have a nikon n8008 and all of pictures (regardless of perfect exposure or not, and regardless of the lens!) creates real grainy and unsharp images. ive used a quantaray 28-90 3.5, nikkor 24-28 3.5, nikkor 50 1.8 and they all still end up with noisy pics. i shoot with iso 200.

some examples:
البرونزية البرونزية

i dont see how the camera body could affect the picture. they are basically just shutter controlling mechanisms and AF mechanisms. other than that its not like digitals with differing processors and sensor technology.

I cant speak for anyone else, but I had way too much going on this past month between work and the holidays to get a decent pic for either contest.

But with the new year comes a fresh start.

Lets use this thread to hash out our next topic and a due date that works for everyone.

I would hate to see people lose interest.

l33t, Thanks for making the effort to host this contest every month.

attn: macbook pro crüe v.processor/display good 2024.

i’m getting my first mac (ever! :eek3:) before i start the new semester at shsu & wanted some feedback…
keep in mind, my degree is b.a. art-photography & prices indicated are using apple’s student discount… thanks in advance! :wavey:

what i know i want:
-15" mbp with i7
-upgrading the 500gb hdd from 5400rpm to 7200rpm (no need for ssd just yet)
-upgrading display to high-res
not upgrading the ram (by apple) because i can find & install memory at a better cost than what they offer:

  • 4GB 1066MHz DDR3 SDRAM – 2x2GB [Default]
  • 8GB 1066MHz DDR3 SDRAM – 2x4GB [Add $360.00]

need feedback to decide:
cpu – i’ll obviously be using lr3/cs5 but does the additional .14ghz warrant the $180 premium? or should i just get the 2.8ghz because it’s a lot easier to upgrade the cpu now than, say, memory at a later date?

  • 2.66GHz Intel Core i7 [Default]
  • 2.8GHz Intel Core i7 [Add $180.00]

display – like i said, i’m upgrading to high-res… from what i’ve read, colors/contrast are better on the glossy, but the reflections are a bitch… or should i just go with the antiglare & once it’s properly calibrated, it won’t matter that much?

  • MacBook Pro 15-inch Glossy Widescreen Display [Default]
  • MacBook Pro 15-inch Hi-Res Glossy Widescreen Display [Add $90.00]
  • MacBook Pro 15-inch Hi-Res Antiglare Widescreen Display [Add $135.00]
