going to the dentist, what lens to bring? good 2024.

going to the dentist, what lens to bring? good ، going to the dentist, what lens to bring? good

since we like to sticky threads to keep from nubs from posting redundant threads, i figure we need to put a "travel thread: what to bring when traveling" thread together

should get rid of a few useless threads (like this one)

🙂

Going to Italy, what lenses to bring? good 2024.

Going to Italy, what lenses to bring? good ، Going to Italy, what lenses to bring? good

I’m taking a trip to the mother land for a couple weeks in March and I was wondering what lenses I should bring along?

I currently have a nifty 50 and a 28-135. I’m considering a 10-20 and a 70-200.

Any advice?

First "Photography Trip" .what to bring. good 2024.

First "Photography Trip"…what to bring. good ، First "Photography Trip"…what to bring. good

Cliffs for you OT’ers with short attention spans (like myself:
Going on business trip
Taking pictures
What should I bring with me

Well, it is actually a business trip but I am going to find some time to get away and take some shots. At the early s***es of what I know is a steep learning curve – I know this. So, I will probably spend a lot of time taking shots that look like shit and I’ll be lucky to bring ONE home that is worthy of putting up here. :wiggle:

So up until this point, my photography experience has been the typical stuff: family trip to the Zoo, kids soccer game, roaming the neighborhood taking pictures of sationary objects…anything I can do to practice, work with settings, etc.

It was always for a specific purpose and I was close to home. Forget something? No problem, head back to the house and grab it. Can’t do that on this trip…

So here is the question…what would you experienced photographers put on your "check list" of items to pack for the trip and what would carry on your person as you walk around.

I plan to:
Walk around the Vegas strip (daytime and nighttime)
Set myself up for an EPIC FAIL and attempt a panorama shot (Stratosphere?)
Tour the Hoover Dam
Drive from Las Vegas to LA and take shots of anything of interest on the way

When I’m in the car, I obviously just need to make sure I brought the stuff from hom. But as I am walking around, what are some good items to bring along?

So far, this is what is on my list:

  • Camera body, lenses, bag (obviously)
  • Extra memory card
  • Tripod
  • Macbook Pro with Photoshop CS5 & Lightroom (bringing this anyway…just thought I would mention that I will have this with me)
  • Small notepad. I want to try to duplicate some of the day shots at night, so I will jot down the ********s. Also any notes on camera settings, etc. so that later I can hopefully use them as a reference. (I know that is attached to the file, but I am thinking more along the lines of "I used this setting because I felt it would _____ the image). Then when I review later I can say "that worked" or "that sucked"
  • Map
  • Water/Snacks
  • Comfortable shoes (walking a lot)
  • Dress in layers

I know that most of this is common sense, but I am really looking forward to this trip and I don’t want to get there and realize I didn’t bring something I should have.

I posted about the trip earlier…looking for suggestions. Got some good ones, researched some more, found them on the map. Good to go. Hopefully will stumble upon a bunch more as I explore.
