I’m trying to decide which to buy..Aperture or Lightroom 3. Aperture is easy to use..I merged my first HDR image pretty easily, but holy shit was it slow as balls. I’m running it on a blackbook with 4gb RAM, and it hangs like a motherfucker.

So now I’m trying to try LR3 and I can’t figure out wtf I’m doing. Tutorials online say I need CS3? Where can I read about how to do all that shit from the start?

Hey guys.. I know this isn’t a lightroom forum but I’ve read the sticky and unfortunately most of the links for the presets are dead.

If anyone has recommendations on (or has their own) good presets they would like to share I’d greatly appreciate it.

Also, is it better to shoot in RAW if you’re going to edit the files? Right now I’m just shooting in .JPG format

Is there a way to delete the standard presets? It takes forever to scroll through the list to find ones that I’ve added in (which still kinda suck).

I haven’t used Lightroom in a long time. I have two years worth of pics that I want to organize and I want to make some changes in how I used to do things. Few questions…

1. If I remove a folder from Lightroom, are the keywords and ****data lost? I want to reorganize my library and for me it just seems easier and less of a clusterfuck by deleting the folders and readding.

2. I currently have my library on an external drive. Is there a way to make it so a low quality version is stored in the database on the computer so I can still view web quality pics in Lightroom without having the drive connected?

3. Do you guys have any developer presets that you use a lot that work well most of the time?

Lightroom Catalog question good 2024.

So I keep all my photos on two externals. I’ll run LR3 off an external along with the photos. I try not to keep any raw files on my macbook pro.

What I’d like to do, and don’t know if it’s possible, is to have another copy of the catalog on my laptop HD so I don’t need to plug in my external. Anyone have some input on how to do this?
