First off, I don’t really do much photography stuff. I take a lot of pictures for my business, but haven’t ventured out into the world of photography a whole lot. I have a XSI right now with a Speedlite 380 Flash. The other day, I was looking through a manifest of goods that I was about to receive, and noticed a 7D. Normally, if I get cameras at all I get point and shoot, or some lower end SLR (hence my XSI). Of course, I was ready to dig thought my shipment to find it, because I decided to upgrade myself from the XSI.
I have taken 15-20 pictures with it. I am awful when it comes to settings on SLR’s, but throwing the 7D into CA mode is producing some sweet pictures vs my XSI (also, the 125mm vs the 55mm XSI kit job). The lighting and all are perfect vs my XSI with the 380. I just am trying to decide if this is overkill for what I would use it for?
If I keep this camera, most of it’s life, it would be used for taking pictures of items you would see in a best buy ad, heavy machinery, and medical equipment. I might get into taking random pictures at events, and would love to, but I am pretty noobish when it comes to SLR’s and want to make sure that there really is a difference in the images this camera produces vs my XSI for what I would use it for. If there is, and it has a better auto detection mode or something, then it would definitely be worth keeping to me, but I don’t want my mind to be telling me there’s a huge difference, and there really isn’t.
Keep the 7D and roll with it on CA/Auto mode most of it’s life, or stick with my XSI on auto?
