I haven’t played with either one of them. I currently have a 5D and a 5DMKII, so I’m not very familiar with the functions of these other two.

I’ll be teaching her to use a DSLR so that she can eventually help me shoot weddings (I get requests often for a female photographer in addition to me for Muslim weddings).

I want her to get started slowly and I would like to use this camera as my third backup as well, just in case. Looking to spend under $700 w/ kit lens. I have L lenses, but I don’t want her to play with those for a while. I’d like to get her a 18-135 so that even I can use it as a general walk around lens and leave my 24-70 at home when going on vacations.

I’m making some changes to my lineup, and i’m not sure where to go right now…

I currently have the following:

14-24
Sigma 50mm 1.4
28-75 2.8
85mm 1.4G
80-200 2.8

I’m looking to add a wide angle prime to my bag, then dump the 28-75 and just go primes for my wide to normal range…

I’m debating between the 24mm and the 35mm, both new G versions…

I really like the 14-24, so I feel like the 24 would be overlapping that lens, and so the 35 becomes the obvious choice…

Of course, if the 24 is leaps and bounds better than both the 14-24 and the 35, maybe I need to re-think things a little…

I also can’t decide whether or not the 35 would be wide enough to satisfy my needs, and i’ve heard some grumblings of it not being as amazing as the 85, which has quickly become my new standard for awesomeness…
