So for Christmas I got a new DSLR, Canon Rebel XS, in the past I worked with SLRs for about 4 years. Had to sell old film camera for bills for college, etc. Its been about 3 years since I’ve used SLR kind of camera. Trying to get back into photography for college (possible minor? maybe?). But give me some tips and tricks.

These are some of the pictures I’ve taken over my semester break. What do you think? Don’t be afraid to be harsh.

I have a Mac and use iphotos to organize my family photos. I like how you can designate a ******** for each event and then it shows up on a map. It’s neat to see all the places you have been.

I’m looking for a photo sharing site that has something similar. Ideally the main page would have the map and you could see where all the photos were taken.

Any suggestions?

I used to use Picasa a long time ago. Haven’t checked it out lately. I know a lot of people on here use Flickr.

I also want to make sure that I can keep the photo gallery "private" but still have the ability to share publically certain pictures of galleries. For example if I want to post a few pics in here, or send a link to a friend, etc.

I finally had time to try out the T2i I had purchased. These pics are just from my back yard and I was playing around with the different settings while focusing with apeture, iso, and shutter speed.

Be harsh too. I know they are the typical flower, plants, animals, backyard stuff, etc but it was easiest to practice on 🙂

Have never noticed this before, but when I take a shot with the shutter speed set 500 or up the picture gets increasingly cut off as I go up in speed… as if the mirror isnt making it out of the way in time or something? Is something wrong? Hope I am not being a noob

Not from the standpoint of the photographer, but as the consumer…

As one or two may know – we terminated the contract with our first wedding photographer because we both (photog and I and fiancé) mutually agreed he was not the right fit for us.

So we shop around more, and hire another studio. I felt very confident. I still do – kind of…

So we are having our albums and shit made – but as I go back and look at our latest engagement photos, I realize just how much more thought and effort I put into my work compared to the god damned photographers I see out there and it’s frustrating. We are paying these people thousands of dollars, and I am still worrying about their ability to pull off what we want. Maybe I shouldn’t be – but I am…

For what our latest photographers are doing and charging, I should be charging 10 grand to shoot a wedding.

I went out with a friend to shoot him doing winter rally/autox for the first time in his subaru.

Immediately I’m greeted by a small asian guy with a dust pump and what looked to be a 40/50D without a grip. He asked me how i like my body/lens combo and then as soon as I was about to answer asked me why I have no tripod/monopod and that I will need one if I want any good pictures. Then he skanked away and left me alone.

The next guy kept trying to block out my pans with his Full Frame 7D. He actually came up and started talking how he loves full frame….I looked at his camera and said "it’s 1.6 apsc, its not full frame". Well I tell ya! Never tell a guy his camera isnt full frame!!

I just mind my business and attract these guys. Lol. I’m tempted to spraypaint my 70-200 black :hs:
