Nikon —> Canon v. considering a new DSLR purchase good ، Nikon —> Canon v. considering a new DSLR purchase good
I went and played around with a 60D at Fry’s tonight with the fiance.
I sold my D80 to help pay for the ring.
We agreed that we would go halfsies on a new DSLR for our wedding gift to each other.
I was thinking of going with a 7D or a 60D, which do you guys prefer? I know they’re different cameras with different specs, but I wanted your guys’ opinion on both.
I like Nikons ergos and am used to their controls. I didn’t like that i had to push down a button on the 60D to turn the wheel for modes. It’s also on the left as opposed to on the right with the D80. i do like the flip out LCD screen on the 60D, I have yet to play with a 7D.
I also want HD video and I don’t know if either has a stereo jack for audio.
Anyway, opinions needed. Thanks guise.
Also, I tried a search, but couldn’t find anything because i’m lazy.

Which? The two are VERY similar in construction. They’re both pretty much equally sharp. Wider would be better, but f/2 is better than f/2.8. That being said, I usually shoot outdoors or at low light with a tripod, but I’m comfortable shooting at ISO 1600+ on my D90 anyways, so…. :dunno::noes:
I need a mid-range prime. My 50 f/1.8 is awesome, but a bit too long for a walk-around prime most the time.
-edit- also, aren’t this full frame lenses? So they wouldn’t really be that wide on my cropped sensor… more like 42-50mm-ish…

Nikon P7000? good ، Nikon P7000? good
I have always wanted a DSLR but am afraid I would rarely use it because they are so big and bulky. But I do love the image quality, the way it feels in your hand, and the control of a manual lens.
Recently I found out about the P7000 and I really like the way it looks and the specs on the thing…
I think this camera would work better for me than a DSLR because I mostly take pictures of food in restaurants, or am walking around urban areas where it would not be wise to be flashing around a huge camera.
The only thing that is preventing my from pulling the trigger is the image samples I have seen. They all look dark/blurry/point-and-shoot? I have not found an image where I go "WOW."
What do you think am I being crazy or should I buy a $999 DSLR for better images?

Any suggestions/thoughts? I’ve been looking mostly at the SB-600, but I’m not sure if the 800 is HUGE step up worth the extra money. Right now I’m not doing a ton of indoor stuff but if I end up expanding a bit I don’t want to have to upgrade in a year.
